COVID 19-All about being Positive

COVID-19, or the Novel Coronavirus, which has killed almost 7 lakhs people worldwide and it is being defined as a global health crisis and the biggest challenge that humanity has faced since World War Two. More than a health crisis,it has affected almost every sector. It had the capability of creating catastrophic social, economic and political effects that will leave deep and long standing scars on many countries. So talking about these many negative sides,I would like to bring some positive things about this virus to the limelight.

It is probably the sixth month of lockdown and the restriction is definitely causing physical and mental stress yet technology has made it slightly bearable to stay isolated. What most people are referring to as the “new normal” is the very existence of technology that people are now using to keep their daily operations going. Messaging applications, video conferencing, cloud infrastructure, and of course, the internet has made it possible for most of us to work from home.Apart from work, technology is also being used for personal activities such as socialising, learning, listening to music, streaming shows and movies, etc. This is a time where millennials have no option but to help out the older generation with their tech expertise! We may not be seeing the sunlight but we are definitely seeing our phone’s blue light more.

It’s been four years since the centre has introduced NPCI and UPI for money transactions and most of us are using these facilities for the same. But in this scenario,it became a necessity for all people there to use these things for transactions just because they are scared of currencies!

We miss people! We love talking endlessly to our friends and classmates and even strangers, and try to socialize among our peer groups. And now this one became just impossible(not that impossible, but still) and we have no other way than video calling.
Even those that aren’t active on social media will be seen using it during the lockdown. When a person is not too busy at work and is not able to meet up with friends, the only way to communicate is social media. The human psyche wants something more when they are told they can’t have it. Naturally, now that you aren’t allowed to go out, you actually want to do it.
There has been a large increase of new twitter accounts in India, after March. People started to update whatever they have now,and started to experiment with new apps.
Big milestones and updates in people’s lives are now broadcasted through social media applications and that might become the new way to announce things even after the lockdown. Although social media already had that kind of impact before, it is expected to grow only more after this.
Not just twitter, but also a variety of workout apps too. Since the gyms have been closed,we started to realize the influence of physique and fitness in daily life.
This one would be incomplete, if I am not gonna talk about online classes.
Various apps like Google Meet, Zoom, Webex and so on, have been an essential part of every teacher and student these days. Education is the most precious human resource we have, and it is a necessity to run that flawlessly.
Even after the lockdown ends, these apps are here to stay because they efficiently have helped you get through house arrest and continue with your daily activities.
As said earlier,we see the blue light of the phone more than the sunlight,we must get some Digital Detox.
This is definitely a hard time for everyone and defining a new normal might see some resistance. Change is scary but it is also required. At such a time, most of us have turned to technology for help and even technology has risen to the occasion. The government is in the works of a COVID-19 tracking app and the internet is bursting with information about the same. Hereafter, we can always be assured that in a time of crisis, we will always have technology to guide us through and maybe even help us out of a situation. Now this, this is positive. Technology has reached the hands of a very common man among us.
Spread Positivity!
